I drove about 3 hours north to reach the town of Willows, Ca where I found the rolling hills that make up Thunderhill Raceway. Hooked On Driving was hosting a High Performance Driving Event, my first of the 2007 season. Better late then never. The 3 mile course provides for several fun elevation changes, fast sweeping turns and plenty of run off if things go awry. Some high rollers made an appearance including a Mercedes McLaren SLR, several Ferrari 360s and two Ford GTs, one of which caught fire. My best lap of the day was a 2:17, although slowed by traffic at the end – video of that lap is below. They say a 2:10 is competitive and for my first time out this season and on this track, that’s not to bad. I look forward to going back soon.
